As the United States wages predatory imperialist wars abroad it simultaneously launches vicious attacks on political prisoners in US prisons.
The Miami Five have been targeted in this latest onslaught and have been placed in solitary confinement. They are five Cubans who were trying to stop the ultra-rightwing terrorist groups in Miami from carrying out violent actions against the people of Cuba.
While the United States claims to be fighting ‘terrorism’ they are in fact funding it. The real ‘terrorist’ groups are Alpha 66, Omega 7, Brothers to the Rescue and Cuban American National Foundation who have terrorised the Cuban people for years. Acting out and initiating US imperialist foreign policy they have worked closely with the CIA and the US military in directing counter-insurgency operations against revolutionary movements in Nicaragua, El Salvador and throughout Latin America. Since 1959, these organisations have conducted bombings, assassinations and other sabotage, killing hundreds of innocent Cuban civilians.
We call upon people everywhere to demand the release of the 5 Cuban patriots: Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez who were given prison sentences of between life and 15 years by reactionary Miami judges.
